An established and highly regarded accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Business Services Director to join its senior leadership team. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to oversee a substantial client portfolio while working closely with senior colleagues to drive service excellence and business development initiatives.
The Role
- Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of business clients, delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services.
- Develop long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser and primary point of contact.
- Oversee the delivery and review of accounts, tax compliance and business advisory assignments.
- Attend and lead client meetings, providing commercial advice and identifying opportunities to add value.
- Manage client billing, budgets and overall portfolio performance.
- Lead, mentor and develop managers and wider team members, supporting both their technical and professional growth.
- Monitor team performance, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, accurately and to the highest professional standards.
- Work collaboratively with fellow Directors and Partners to support strategic planning and departmental growth.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through networking, referrals and existing client relationships.
- Support recruitment, succession planning and the continued development of the wider Business Services team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal quality procedures.
About You
- ACA, ACCA or ICAS qualified.
- Significant experience within an accountancy practice at Senior Manager, Director or equivalent level.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, financial reporting and UK taxation.
- Experience managing a substantial client portfolio across a range of sectors.
- Commercially minded with a proven ability to develop and grow client relationships.
- Demonstrable experience leading, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership and relationship management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive, strategic thinker who enjoys driving continuous improvement and business growth.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
