Job Title: Cleaning Operative, Summer 2026
Role: Part time, temporary roles for summer 2026: hours expected to be throughout June – August (3 months)
Hours: Various roles available with flexible hours from 6 - 40 hours a week across 1 to 4 days (primarily Monday to Friday, but some weekends may be required) 7am/8am starts are required.
Pay: £12.75 per hour
Location: Central pick up point, then various locations around York and surrounding areas with transport provided
Job Summary
We are looking for reliable, motivated and efficient Cleaning Operatives to join our team during our busy summer period, from the beginning of June to the end of August 2026.
In this role you’ll support end-of-tenancy cleaning within residential student properties, ensuring all areas are cleaned to a high standard, well-presented and ready to welcome new tenants.
This is a physically demanding and fast-paced role, requiring good stamina, strength and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a friendly and supportive team.
Full training will be provided, and you will be expected to carry out cleaning duties using the tools, equipment, and chemicals supplied. A uniform, relevant personal protective equipment (PPE), and daily transport to various work locations will also be provided.
You’ll be joining a welcoming team with a strong sense of camaraderie, where hard work is appreciated and the atmosphere is positive and enjoyable.
Responsibilities
· Perform all related cleaning duties in designated areas including living spaces, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms
· Communicate effectively with team members to ensure cleaning efficiency and effectiveness
· Follow training provided to ensure high standards of cleaning
· Use tools, equipment and chemicals as directed and ensure high levels of health and safety
· Represent the company by delivering excellent cleaning and customer service
Skills and Experience
· Previous experience in commercial cleaning or general cleaning is preferred but not essential
· An excellent level of attention to detail
· Strong customer service skills
· An ability to work independently as well as part of a team
· An ability to work efficiently and showcase time management skills
· Physical strength and stamina
· Reliability and professionalism
