Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a deep understanding of food safety standards. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a cohesive team environment. The Sous Chef will play a vital role with the chef owner in menu development, staff management, and upholding the restaurant’s reputation for excellence. We're looking to build a team that wasn't to acheive great things in a historic pub setting serving traditional pub classics with a twist.
Duties
- Supervise and manage the kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants
- Oversee food preparation and ensure dishes meet quality standards and presentation expectations
- Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage inventory efficiently
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and operated safely
- Train staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety procedures, and customer service standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery
- Manage labour costs and optimise workflow during busy periods
- Uphold the restaurant’s standards for hospitality and customer satisfaction
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive background in food production, culinary arts, and restaurant operations
- Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead diverse groups of staff
- Demonstrable expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu development
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Previous experience working in hospitality or restaurant settings is highly desirable
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
