Flue Installation Engineer
The Opportunity

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a similar role or a background in plumbing, pipefitting, flue installation, ducting, fabrication or mechanical installation. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical knowledge and build a long-term career within a growing and specialist area of the business.
Location
Based at John J Doyle Ltd Head Office, Belfast, with travel throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, together with occasional travel to Great Britain and Europe.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Completing the installation of flue and ducting systems in accordance with engineering designs, technical specifications, current guidelines and relevant legislation.
- Carrying out installation work to a high standard while following company procedures and site requirements.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and installation instructions.
- Communicating site issues clearly and effectively with Contracts Managers, Engineers and other members of the project team.
- Managing time efficiently and ensuring work is completed within agreed schedules and deadlines.
- Taking a proactive approach to problem-solving and dealing effectively with general site issues.
- Developing a strong understanding of site activities, project requirements and installation processes.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment at all times.
- Carrying out work in accordance with instructions from the Team Leader and Project Manager.
- Working in line with relevant health and safety legislation, company policies and site requirements.
- Using company information management systems to ensure paperwork, site records and documentation are kept accurate and up to date.
- Completing and submitting daily and weekly paperwork and reports as required.
- Providing excellent customer service and representing John J Doyle Ltd professionally while working on customer and project sites.
- Working effectively as part of a team and supporting colleagues where required.
- Assisting with the development and guidance of other team members as experience and knowledge develops.
- Demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop new technical and practical skills.
Experience and Skills
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Plumbing and/or pipefitting
- Mechanical installation
- Knowledge of boiler systems
- Flue installation
- Ducting installation and associated systems
- Fabrication
- Construction or building services installation
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience working on construction or commercial sites
- Experience working at height
Essential Requirements
- Valid CSR Card
- Full and clean driving licence
- Ability to work at height
- General knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely on site
- Good communication skills
- Strong teamwork skills
- Efficient time management and organisational skills
- A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving
- Willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and occasionally further afield
- Keen to learn and develop within a specialist technical role
