Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Day Health Care Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting residents within a care home environment, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring their well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals requiring health and social care support during the day. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be organised, and have a genuine interest in providing high-quality care. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate home visits when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, and mobility support
- Support residents with their daily routines in accordance with individual care plans
- Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals and document accordingly
- Engage residents in social activities and promote their overall well-being
- Maintain accurate records of care provided using IT systems and adhere to confidentiality protocols
- Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and family members to ensure coordinated care
- Support with light domestic duties within the care environment to ensure a clean and safe setting
- Assist with organising transport for appointments or outings when required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care home or home care environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for roles involving travel between locations
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen empathetically and convey information clearly
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in caring for others
