The Works. It literally means everything. And whatever your story or background, we’re all about unlocking imagination and making creativity accessible to everyone. Whether you’re engaging with customers on the frontline or supporting our colleagues behind the scenes, your impact can be profound and far-reaching.
This is more than toys and books and art supplies. This is about inspiring people to read, learn, create and play. So, with the right passion, it all starts with you.
As our Receptionist, you are the welcoming face and first point of contact for our office. You play a vital role in shaping first impressions by delivering a friendly, professional front‑of‑house experience for colleagues, visitors, and partners.
Alongside reception duties, you will provide general administrative support and help maintain a welcoming, organised and professional environment for colleagues and visitors.

Administration & Coordination
Manage incoming and outgoing post, deliveries, and couriers

Provide general administrative support to assist with the smooth running of reception and shared office areas. From time to time, you may also be asked to support the Facilities department with ad-hoc tasks.
You'll love creating a great first impression, with previous experience in a receptionist, front-of-house, office support or customer-facing role.
You're a natural people person who enjoys building relationships and making colleagues, visitors and partners feel welcome, valued and supported.
You communicate with confidence and warmth, whether you're greeting visitors, answering calls or supporting colleagues across the business.
You're organised, proactive and comfortable juggling priorities, helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes.
You take pride in spotting opportunities to improve how things work, using initiative and a practical, solution-focused approach to get things done.
You're confident using Microsoft Office and everyday office systems, with a willingness to learn new tools and processes.
You stay calm, professional and approachable when things get busy, adapting quickly to changing priorities and unexpected requests.
You genuinely care about creating a welcoming, safe and well-organised workplace where people can do their best work.
You can be trusted to handle confidential information with discretion, integrity and professionalism.
You're dependable, flexible and take ownership of your responsibilities, following through on commitments and supporting the wider team whenever needed.

We are Caring | Heart in every action.
We are Can-do | Energy that gets it done.
Each year, we run an anonymous colleague engagement survey. This is so important for us to hear your feedback and suggestions. We want to know what’s going great, and what needs a couple of tweaks to help make The Works the best place you’ve ever worked! You’ll have opportunity to help give us that direction.
At The Works, we are proud to have an inclusive culture where everyone truly feels able to be themselves. Our roles are open to all, including under-represented groups such as ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, carers & members of the LGBTQ+ community (including those who identify as lesbian, gay, bi, trans, non-binary, or use another term).
We are open to discussions around working hours and flexible working. And, where possible, we'll try to support this. If you need reasonable adjustments for an interview you might attend with us, let us know in your application and we’ll be happy to help!
