Senior Kitchen Porter & Stock Room Assistant
Wild Flour Cake Co.
We’re looking for a reliable, organised and hands-on Senior Kitchen Porter & Stock Room Assistant to join our bakery team.
This is more than a standard KP role. You’ll still be hands-on with cleaning and washing up, but you’ll also take ownership of our KP area, support and guide our Kitchen Porter, and help keep our stock rooms, deliveries and packaging organised.
It’s a great role for someone who enjoys being busy, takes pride in keeping things running properly and naturally spots what needs doing.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Taking day-to-day ownership of the KP and wash-up area
- Working alongside and helping organise the workload of our Kitchen Porter
- Making sure trays, equipment and utensils are cleaned and returned to production efficiently
- Keeping the bakery clean, tidy and hygienic
- Completing daily and scheduled cleaning tasks
- Keeping ingredient, packaging and stock rooms organised
- Receiving deliveries, checking them and putting stock away correctly
- Rotating stock and checking dates
- Helping with regular stock counts
- Flagging low, damaged or short-dated stock
- Keeping cleaning products and consumables stocked and organised
- Supporting our postal packing and dispatch operation
- Helping move ingredients, packaging and equipment around the bakery
- Supporting the wider production team during busy periods
- Following our food safety, hygiene and SALSA procedures
As the Senior KP
You’ll be the senior person within the KP area.
You’ll help make sure the Kitchen Porter knows what needs doing, cleaning standards are being maintained and the area is running efficiently throughout the day.
You’ll still be hands-on, but we’re looking for someone who can take ownership rather than simply work through a task list.
You won’t be responsible for formal people management, but you will be expected to provide day-to-day guidance and lead by example.
What We’re Looking For
Someone who is:
- Reliable and hardworking
- Naturally clean and organised
- Comfortable taking responsibility
- Able to prioritise when things get busy
- Happy working in a physical, fast-paced environment
- Confident helping guide another team member
- Good at spotting problems before they become bigger ones
- A team player who is happy to get stuck in
Previous experience in a bakery, kitchen, food production, stock room or similar environment would be useful, but attitude, organisation and reliability are just as important.
What Good Looks Like
The KP area runs smoothly.
The bakery has clean equipment when it needs it.
Stock rooms are organised and easy to work from.
Deliveries are checked and put away properly.
Packaging and cleaning supplies don’t unexpectedly run out.
The Kitchen Porter knows what they’re doing and has support when needed.
And the wider bakery team can rely on you to help keep everything moving.
