We are seeking an experienced Curriculum PE Specialist to deliver high-quality PE lessons within our primary schools in the wirral area.
This role involves delivering structured curriculum PE lessons aligned with the National Curriculum, supporting the school in providing engaging and inclusive physical education that develops fundamental movement skills, teamwork and physical confidence in pupils aged 4–11.
This position is best suited to someone with strong experience working within primary schools and delivering curriculum PE, rather than purely sports coaching environments.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver engaging, well-structured curriculum PE lessons aligned with the National Curriculum
- Follow and deliver planned schemes of work across a range of sports and physical activities
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils can participate and succeed
- Develop pupils’ fundamental movement skills, coordination and physical literacy
- Adapt lessons to support different abilities, confidence levels and SEND needs
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to ensure sessions run safely and smoothly
- Work collaboratively with school staff and communicate professionally with teachers and leadership
- Arrive prepared and on time (minimum 10 minutes early), in suitable sportswear/uniform
- Set up and safely pack away equipment for each lesson
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety and professional conduct
- Record attendance and report any incidents or concerns promptly
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience delivering curriculum PE in primary schools
- Level 2 coaching qualification, sports degree, or relevant teaching/PE qualification
- Strong understanding of the Primary PE National Curriculum
- Ability to confidently manage behaviour and lead whole-class PE lessons
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Up-to-date First Aid and Safeguarding training (or willingness to obtain)
- Two professional references
- Ability to work independently within a school environment
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- QTS, sports science degree, specialist PE qualification or various NGB L2 qualifications
- Experience supporting assessment and progression in PE
- Understanding of inclusive PE and adapting activities for SEND pupils
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Commitment to professional development
