Due to continued expansion and increasing demand, we are seeking a Solicitor Court of Protection Fee Earner (Health & Welfare) who is also a Mental Health Panel Member to join our specialist team.

Job Purpose
To provide high-quality legal advice, representation, and case management in Court of Protection matters, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, firm policies, and regulatory standards. The postholder will manage a caseload of matters relating to capacity, welfare, and property/financial affairs, supporting vulnerable clients and their families while contributing to the development of the department. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters, including:
Key responsibilities :
- Managing a Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) caseload
- Applications under s.16 and s.21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Acting in Legal Aid funded matters, including use of CCMS
- Liaising with the Official Solicitor and other professionals
- Drafting applications, witness statements and court documentation
- Representing clients and providing clear legal advice
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Contributing to the continued growth of the department
About You
We are looking for a solicitor, from all over the UK or surrounding areas who is passionate about Court of Protection work and committed to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients.
You will ideally have:
- Mental Health Panel Membership
- Experience in Court of Protection – Health & Welfare work
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Experience managing your own caseload
- Legal Aid and CCMS experience (preferred)
- Excellent drafting, advocacy and client care skills
- A compassionate, professional and proactive approach
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Solicitor with practicing certificate in England & Wales.
- Minimum 1 year PQE in Court of Protection or related areas (Private Client, Mental Health, Community Care).
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant case law.
- Experience in legal aid-funded matters (desirable).
- Strong client focus and ability to work sensitively with vulnerable individuals
- Excellent organisational, drafting, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise and work effectively in a high-paced environment
- Flexible, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
- Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel

- Strong client care skills, with the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable individuals and families.
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities; able to manage competing priorities.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems in legal aid and CCMS desirable
