SOUS CHEF – HERD NEWQUAY.
Pay: £14.00 per hour.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
We’re looking for a SOUS CHEF to join the team at HERD Newquay.
We’re after someone who knows their way around a busy kitchen, cares about good food and can help keep the team moving when things get busy. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef, helping run the kitchen day to day and making sure the food, team and service are all on point.
We take our food seriously.
What you’ll be doing:
- Helping lead the kitchen team through prep and service.
- Working alongside the Head Chef to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
- Cooking and preparing food to HERD’s standards and menu specifications.
- Keeping quality, presentation and consistency high.
- Helping train and support the kitchen team.
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and food-safety compliant.
- Helping manage stock, ordering and food costs.
- Working with the FOH team to make sure service runs smoothly.
- Getting stuck in wherever you’re needed, this is a hands-on role.
What we’re looking for:
- Previous Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie experience in a busy kitchen.
- Someone confident working as part of a team and taking the lead when needed.
- Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen standards.
- A good understanding of proper cooking and prep techniques.
- Organised, reliable and able to keep your head when the tickets start coming.
- Someone who takes pride in what they do and cares about putting out great food.
- A positive attitude and the ability to have a laugh while still getting the job done.
Experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment is preferred, but attitude and the ability to cook properly matter just as much.
