Our client, a well-established, independent accountancy practice, is seeking a Payroll & Bookkeeping Senior to join their growing team.

The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll and bookkeeping professional looking to join a friendly and collaborative practice environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a varied client base with payroll, bookkeeping and VAT compliance requirements.
The role may also offer exposure to personal tax work for candidates who have experience in this area or are keen to broaden their skillset.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients.
- Ensuring payroll compliance, including RTI submissions and pension auto-enrolment requirements.
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records using cloud-based accounting software.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Performing bank reconciliations and assisting with financial record maintenance.
- Responding to client queries relating to payroll, bookkeeping and VAT matters.
- Assisting with personal tax returns and other practice assignments where appropriate.
Candidate Requirements
Our client is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Essential
- UK Accounting Practice experience is a must, including:
- Previous experience in payroll processing.
- Strong bookkeeping and VAT return preparation experience.
- Good understanding of UK payroll and VAT regulations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Knowledge of personal tax compliance and self-assessment tax returns.
- Familiarity with software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and/or BrightPay.
- AAT qualification or equivalent experience.

Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
