About the Role:
At Anna Cloud Technologies Ltd, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, we build secure, scalable, and reliable cloud platforms that support modern digital businesses. Our engineering teams work across cloud infrastructure, automation, observability, and developer enablement to create platforms that make complex technology easier to operate.
We are looking for a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer (m/f/d) who can take ownership of our cloud platform strategy and help shape the technical foundations that power our products and services. You will work closely with software engineers, security specialists, architects, and business stakeholders to design resilient cloud environments and establish engineering standards that can scale with the organization.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will contribute to architecture decisions, improve platform reliability, mentor engineers, and help establish a consistent approach to cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and operational excellence.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment:
Our Edinburgh engineering team operates in a collaborative and technically focused environment. We encourage engineers to share ideas, challenge existing approaches, and work together on practical solutions to complex infrastructure problems.
Platform Ownership:
You will have meaningful ownership of our cloud platform roadmap and the opportunity to influence architecture, tooling, engineering standards, and operational practices from the beginning.
Modern Technology:
Our teams work with modern cloud services, infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring platforms, and automated deployment processes.
Growth:
We support continuous learning through technical training, industry conferences, cloud certifications, and opportunities to work on challenging platform engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Platform Architecture:
Design and evolve secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure supporting production applications and internal engineering teams.
Infrastructure Automation:
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code, deployment automation, configuration management, and reusable platform components that improve engineering efficiency.
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical guidance to engineers, contribute to architecture reviews, and establish practical engineering standards for cloud infrastructure and platform operations.
Reliability and Observability:
Improve platform resilience through monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity planning, incident analysis, and proactive performance optimization.
Security and Governance:
Partner with security and engineering teams to implement cloud security controls, access management, compliance requirements, and infrastructure governance.
Developer Enablement:
Build tools and platform capabilities that allow development teams to deploy, operate, and scale applications efficiently without unnecessary infrastructure complexity.
What We Are Looking For
Experience:
8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a closely related engineering discipline, with significant experience designing and operating production cloud environments.
Cloud Expertise:
Strong hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including networking, compute, storage, identity, security, and managed services.
Infrastructure as Code:
Strong experience with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or equivalent infrastructure automation technologies.
Containers and Automation:
Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD systems, scripting, and automated deployment workflows.
Programming and Scripting:
Strong ability to work with languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or similar technologies used for automation and platform development.
Mindset:
You are a pragmatic technical leader who enjoys solving difficult infrastructure problems. You understand when to build a sophisticated long term solution and when a simpler approach is the right choice. You communicate clearly, take ownership, and help other engineers become more effective.
