Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Carer/Team Leader to join our compassionate care team. This role involves leading and supporting care staff in delivering high-quality care to residents in nursing homes, assisted living, and home care settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive caregiving experience, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of elderly and vulnerable individuals. The Senior Carer/Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with care plans, and maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of carers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure excellent care delivery
- Assist with the development and implementation of personalised care plans tailored to individual needs
- Administer medication accurately following prescribed protocols and maintain detailed documentation
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, meal preparation, and activities of daily living
- Manage behaviour effectively, employing de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies as required
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive case management and continuity of care
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through specialised care techniques
- Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure safety standards are met within the care environment
- Organise training sessions for staff on topics such as first aid, medical terminology, hospice care, and other relevant areas
- Maintain accurate records of care activities, incidents, and medication administration in compliance with regulatory standards
- Drive organisational initiatives aimed at improving resident satisfaction and staff performance
Skills
- Proven experience in nursing home or residential care environments, particularly in senior or dementia care
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Excellent knowledge of medication administration procedures and medical terminology
- Competence in developing and managing personalised care plans
- Ability to handle complex behavioural issues with patience and professionalism
- First aid certification is essential; additional qualifications in hospice or dementia care are advantageous
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Experience in home care settings is desirable but not mandatory
- Valid driving licence preferred for roles involving community visits or patient transportation
- Compassionate approach combined with excellent communication skills to foster trust and rapport with residents and their families
