Background
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join our Clinical Negligence department in Manchester.
The Clinical Negligence department represents claimants and their families who have suffered injury following poor medical treatment.
The Role
The role will primarily involve working on new and potential instructions in addition to assisting solicitors in the team. The duties will include:

Taking initial enquiries from prospective claimants via telephone.
- Providing detailed accounts of the enquiries to senior members of the team; highlighting anything that they feel may be pertinent to the claim.
- Updating clients as to the progress of their claims.
- Drafting initial letters of advice or advising why we are unable to proceed with the matter.
- Reviewing medical records and potentially preparing bundles of medical records including indexing the records.
- Liaising with experts and clients to arrange conferences.
- Assisting solicitors within the group in all procedures, including interviewing clients, preparing statements, preparing letters of instruction to experts, drafting instructions to counsel and issuing and pursuing court proceedings.
- Preparing complaints to medical organisations and considering responses to complaints.
- Attending court hearings and conferences with counsel.
The successful individual will have exceptional telephone skills and an empathetic approach with clients. They will be astute and have the ability to instill confidence in both external and internal clients.
This role would ideally suit candidates who have a law degree, LPC graduate, or similar but we are also willing to consider candidates who have medical knowledge, a strong administrative background and transferable skills.
An understanding of the litigation process is desirable but not essential.

We are looking for a diligent, enthusiastic individual who can bring a dynamic and vibrant approach to the role.
The ideal candidate will also have excellent client care skills in order to deal with sensitive issues involving emotional and vulnerable clients.
