Job Summary:
Ken Mallinson and Sons, a family run haulier and warehouse provider, are seeking an experienced Credit Controller due to continued expansion. Working within a small finance team, you will be responsible for managing the company’s credit control processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, and maintaining positive relationships with customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and written communications skills, good time management skills, past experience in a credit controller role and is familiar with Sage50.
Working hours Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and ensure payments are received within agreed credit terms.
- Proactively contact customers by telephone and email to follow up overdue invoices.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers while resolving payment queries professionally.
- Allocate and reconcile incoming payments accurately against customer accounts.
- Investigate and resolve invoice disputes, account discrepancies and outstanding queries.
- Issue customer statements, payment reminders and relevant credit-control correspondence.
- Monitor aged-debt reports and prioritise collection activity to reduce overdue balances.
- Place accounts on hold or escalate high-risk and significantly overdue accounts in line with company procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve credit-control processes, cash flow and customer account management.
- Attend weekly meetings with relevant departments to review outstanding accounts, resolve payment issues and agree follow-up actions.
- Other ad-hoc responsibilities.
Key Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience of working within credit control.
- Experience of Sage50, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - able to communicate with customers in a friendly manner.
- Basic knowledge accounting principles and procedures related to credit management.
- Good time management skills.
