Are you ready to challenge the status quo and make a real impact?
Do you take ownership, thrive on improving how things are done, and enjoy getting hands-on—spotting potential issues early, finding practical solutions, and confidently sharing your technical expertise?
If that sounds like you, this could be the perfect opportunity to join us.
We’re excited to be recruiting for a new senior technical role within our technical team supporting the asphalt surfacing business across the South, offering you the chance to shape how we support our operations and drive performance across the network. At Breedon, we don’t just supply construction materials—we help build the places where people live, work and travel every day, playing a key role in the infrastructure that keeps communities moving. Whilst this role is primarily focused on the South of the UK, there will be occasional opportunities to travel to other regions, supporting our wider national operations and collaborating with colleagues across the business.
As one of the UK’s leading construction materials groups, we combine local expertise with national scale to deliver aggregates, asphalt, concrete and more to major projects across the country. What truly sets us apart, however, is our people. Our purpose is simple: to make a material difference—to our colleagues, our customers and our communities. That means creating an environment where you feel trusted, supported and empowered to make a real impact.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in driving technical excellence and supporting performance across our business. You will:
- Undertake gap analysis to identify and shape the technical resource required to support the business
- Take ownership of FPC control systems—monitoring performance, identifying issues and implementing effective solutions
- Review KPIs regularly to ensure targets are achieved, identifying and driving corrective actions where needed
- Work closely with local teams to identify opportunities to reduce costs and enhance product value
- Investigate and escalate internal material and product issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
- Provide technical advice, guidance and training to sales and production teams
- Interpret incoming specifications and ensure all testing requirements and frequencies are met
- Support internal and external audits, maintaining strong quality standards
- Troubleshoot issues, manage complaints and deliver practical, customer-focused solutions
-
You will be familiar with SHW, BS EN, ISO 17025 and other relevant standards.
- It is essential that you have extensive experience in a technical capacity for asphalt and aggregates, which will include the use of quality management and FPC systems.
- You will bring excellent interpersonal, strong team ethics and strong goal orientation skills with a flexible attitude and be open to change.
- You will have experience in managing and resolving major complaints and customer issues.
- You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to put forward strong, rational arguments, and are able to demonstrate a rational decision-making process whilst under pressure.
- You’ll be logically minded and possess excellent organisational skills and be confident dealing directly with internal and external customers on both a formal and informal level. You will also have excellent numerical skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- You will be educated to degree level in a civil engineering, construction management or other building material related subject.
What we would love you to bring to the role…
- Reliable with a strong work ethic.
- A friendly, positive attitude.
- A commitment to health and safety.
- A conscientious approach to your work.
- Flexible approach to tasks and desire to work as part of a team.
The Group places the highest importance on sustained standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental management and you will be expected to contribute to the Company’s zero harm culture.
