Due to retirement after 20 years of service, a rare opportunity has arisen for a receptionist to join our team at Avalon Veterinary Clinic. This is a part time position, working 15-20 hours per week. The shifts are Monday to Friday, with early shifts from 8.30am and late shifts finishing at 7pm. The exact shift pattern is to be discussed at interview. Payment is from £12.71 per hour, negotiable dependent on experience.

The role
- First and last point of contact for clients on the phone, face to face & by e-mail.
- Diary management – bookingappointments for vet and nurseconsultations, and for surgeries.
- Setting up and cleaning of consulting rooms.
- Ensuring the waiting room and reception area is always kept clean and well-presented.
- Giving preventative health care advice, for example recommending worming and flea treatments. Training will be provided.
- Promoting and being knowledgeable of our Healthy Pet Programme. Training will be provided.
- Takingpayments from clients, processing securely and end of shift banking procedures
- Responding to e-mails and enquiries.
Applicant Requirements
- Ability to provide a high standard of client care skills in a fast-paced and sometimes pressurised environment with customers both face to face, over the telephone or by written communication.
- Proven experience of using computers, databases, booking & telephone systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with clarity both orally and written.

- Previous receptionist experience advantageous.
