Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Playworker to join our After School Activity Club. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children and eager to develop their skills in childcare and educational activities. The role involves supporting children in a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment, helping to facilitate a variety of recreational and educational activities after school hours.
Duties
- Assist in organising and supervising after school activities for children aged 5-12 years.
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging play and learning sessions aligned with programme objectives.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children during activities, adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging participation and social interaction.
- Support children with their homework or educational tasks when required.
- Help maintain a clean and organised activity space, ensuring all equipment is used safely.
- Assist with transporting children to and from the club if necessary, utilising driving skills where applicable.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and supervisors regarding children's progress or concerns.
- Home course work will have to be completed out of work hours
Experience
- Previous experience in childcare, nannying, teaching, or similar roles is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Driving experience is advantageous for supporting transportation needs.
- Knowledge of working with children in diverse settings is beneficial.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus for supporting bilingual activities or communication.
- Demonstrated ability to organise activities and engage children in a positive manner.
