Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor/Seamstress to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments with precision and care. Duties
- Sew and assemble garments according to specified patterns and designs
- Alter and repair clothing items to meet customer or company standards
- Select appropriate fabrics, threads, and other materials for each project
- Measure clients accurately to ensure proper fit and comfort
- Operate sewing machines and other related equipment safely and effectively
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring all seams and stitches are secure
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace to uphold safety standards
- Collaborate with designers or clients to achieve desired styles and fits
- Keep detailed records of work completed on each project
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tailor/Seamstress or in a similar role with a strong portfolio of completed work
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination
- Knowledge of different fabrics, textiles, and sewing techniques
- Ability to interpret technical drawings or patterns accurately
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills to understand client needs and provide professional advice
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
