The role
We are looking for a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our kitchen brigade. You will lead the creation of our dessert menus, afternoon tea selection, breads, and petit fours — bringing artistry, technical skill, and a genuine love of the craft to every plate. Working closely with our Head Chef, you will have the creative freedom to develop seasonal menus that delight our guests and reflect the quality and character of The Elms.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and executing an outstanding pastry, dessert, and afternoon tea offering
- Producing all breads, petit fours, and celebration cakes in-house
- Maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Managing stock, ordering, and minimising waste within the pastry section
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the kitchen team
- Staying current with pastry trends and introducing new techniques and flavours seasonally
- Ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations
About you
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef in a quality hotel, restaurant, or fine dining environment
- Strong technical foundation across all areas of patisserie and baking
- A keen eye for detail and genuine pride in the quality of your work
- Confident working independently while contributing positively to a team
- Relevant culinary qualification desirable (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Up-to-date food hygiene certification
What we offer
In addition to a salary of £33,000 - £36,000 per annum plus tronc, we offer a package designed to make The Elms a genuinely great place to work.
