Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating a Class 2 lorry equipped with a HIAB crane, delivering building materials to various locations whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and road regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a focus on commercial delivery and specialised lifting operations. The successful applicant will possess strong driving skills, a good understanding of flatbed and delivery logistics, and ideally experience of building materials and crane offloading.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV lorry fitted with a HIAB crane to complete deliveries across designated routes.
- Load and unload goods using the HIAB crane, ensuring secure handling of all items.
- Conduct pre-journey checks on the vehicle and lifting equipment, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
- Plan efficient delivery routes to meet deadlines whilst adhering to legal driving hours and safety standards.
- Assist with the loading and unloading process, ensuring all cargo is handled with care and secured properly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain necessary signatures upon completion of each delivery.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including safe operation of the HIAB crane and adherence to road safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen issues.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles.
- Valid HGV Class 2 licence with relevant HIAB certification or training preferred (training can be provided for the right candidate).
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Preferably experience operating a HIAB crane in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Excellent organisational skills to plan routes efficiently and manage delivery schedules.
- Ability to handle physical tasks associated with loading/unloading goods safely.
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members effectively and professionally.
