About The Role
Working with young people who face barriers to mainstream education, you’ll deliver engaging and purposeful learning experiences across two connected areas of Nulogic’s services.
For part of your week, you’ll deliver Maths to small groups of 14-16 year olds at Bournville School, Birmingham, requiring full lesson planning, assessment, progress tracking and meaningful pastoral support.
For the rest of your week, you’ll work as a Specialist Outreach Tutor, delivering high-quality personalised education on a one-to-one or small group basis to learners who are unable to access, or sustain engagement within, mainstream education. Many of these learners will have SEND, SEMH, EHCPs, EBSA or other complex barriers to learning, requiring a flexible, creative and relationship-led approach.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Learning & Curriculum – Maths (Bournville School)
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated Maths lessons for 14-16 year old learners at Bournville School, tailored to learners’ needs, abilities and education plans.
- Create an inclusive, safe and respectful classroom culture that reflects Nulogic’s values.
- Contribute to the development of Maths schemes of work, resources and curriculum planning.
- Track learner progress, assess work and provide timely, constructive feedback, ensuring weekly reporting is completed accurately and consistently.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and Bournville School staff to support learner engagement, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Monitor attendance and behaviour in line with policy, escalating concerns when appropriate.
Teaching, Learning & Learner Progress – Specialist Outreach
- Plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning programmes tailored to each outreach learner’s academic, social and emotional needs.
- Deliver high-quality one-to-one and small group tuition across schools, community venues, learners’ homes and other agreed locations.
- Create engaging learning resources and contribute to the ongoing development of Specialist Outreach curriculum materials and schemes of work.
- Adapt teaching approaches to maximise learner engagement, confidence, attendance and progress.
- Assess learner progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adapting learning programmes accordingly.
- Maintain accurate Individual Learning Plans and contribute to EHCP reviews and learner progress reports.
Learner Engagement & Partnership Working
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners, becoming the primary point of contact for parents and carers of outreach placements once established.
- Work collaboratively with Bournville School, other schools, local authorities, parents, carers and professionals to support learner success.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding learner progress, attendance and engagement.
- Promote high levels of learner motivation, confidence and independence through positive relationships and consistent support.
Safeguarding, Compliance & Information Management
- Adhere to all safeguarding responsibilities and maintain proactive awareness of learners’ needs, recording and reporting concerns immediately in line with Nulogic safeguarding procedures.
- Treat all personal, private and sensitive information with confidentiality, maintaining professional boundaries and upholding UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 requirements at all times.
- Maintain accurate records using systems including Arbor, CPOMS, Microsoft 365 and other organisational systems as required.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, including those set by Nulogic, Bournville School and local authorities relating to (but not limited to) safeguarding, health and safety, SEND, attendance, behaviour, data protection and equality.
Organisation & Professional Contribution
- Manage your diary effectively across both settings, ensuring excellent punctuality, attendance and communication with all stakeholders.
- Attend review meetings, professional meetings, training events and team development activities as required, liaising with Bournville School, families and external stakeholders.
- Participate positively in lesson observations, quality assurance visits, learner work scrutiny and professional feedback processes.
- Engage positively with all CPD opportunities and complete any required training or development activities as directed, ensuring ongoing professional growth and alignment with organisational standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Provision and the Head of Specialist Outreach to continually improve the quality of provision across both areas of your role.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the effective running of the hub, the Specialist Outreach service and wider organisation.

Essential/Desirable Experience
Essential:
- QTS, QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience planning and delivering Maths, ideally at KS4.
- Experience teaching or supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH, EBSA or additional needs.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Experience planning personalised learning programmes and differentiated teaching.
- Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection protocols.
- Strong organisational, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel between Bournville School and outreach locations.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching in alternative provision, PRUs, SEN or similar settings.
- Experience delivering one-to-one outreach education.
- Experience using Arbor, CPOMS and Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and Individual Learning Plans.
- Trauma-informed practice.
- IQA qualified.
- Experience working collaboratively within multi-agency teams.

Pay: £33,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
