Castle Nursery & Pre-School is looking for a warm and capable Nursery Room Leader to join Guardian House, our newest setting in Godalming.
Following a full refurbishment, Guardian House is a bright, modern nursery with five purpose-built rooms for different age ranges, caring for children from 3 months to 5 years. It has a wonderful garden with its own allotment where children grow fruit and vegetables for our on-site cook to prepare, along with age-zoned outdoor areas, cosy story nooks and plenty of space to run, cycle and explore. Set just 100 yards from Godalming station with a large on-site car park, it is a fantastic place to work and easy to get to.
As one of the early members of our team here, this is a brilliant opportunity to help shape a room and a setting from the ground up.
The role
As Room Leader you will lead the day-to-day running of your room and the team within it. You will:
- Lead and support your room team to deliver warm, high-quality care and education.
- Take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of your room, including routines, ratios and deployment.
- Ensure the EYFS is delivered to a high standard for every child in your room.
- Act as a key person and oversee the key person approach across your room.
- Plan, lead and evaluate engaging activities that spark children's curiosity.
- Observe, track and support each child's learning and development.
- Support safeguarding as a senior member of the team, always putting children's welfare first.
- Build warm, trusting relationships with parents and carers.
What we're looking for
- A full and relevant Level 3 early years qualification as a minimum.
- Solid early years experience, ideally including room leader, senior or supervisory responsibility.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding.
- A confident, warm leader who can motivate a team and set the standard.
- A genuine passion for early years and for outdoor, nature-based learning.
Safeguarding training and Paediatric First Aid are welcome, and we will support the right person to develop these.
