POST TITLE: Lead Nursery Educator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Nursery Managers / Area Manager
HOURS: 40 hours per week
SALARY:£31,720.00 - £32,864.00 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
LOCATION: Brighton

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pumpkin Patch Nurseries are recruiting a Lead Educator to join our existing friendly nursery team in Brighton. You will work as part of our leadership team that supports and helps each other with the potential to grow within the company.
Lead Educator
· To develop genuine bonds with your key children and support and monitor colleagues to sensitively fulfil their key person responsibilities
· To maintain ratios in your room whilst supporting other rooms/nurseries
· To lead observations and the assessment of children’s learning and development ensuring records are kept up-to-date, are of a high standard and are shared effectively – includes Individual Education Plans for children with Special Educational Needs.
· To reflect on practice and routines, tailoring them to meet the individual needs of each child throughout the day
· To contribute to the creation of a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children
· To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately – in accordance with child protection and whistleblowing policies
· To work in partnership with all parents/carers, building and maintaining relationships that encourage trust, open communication and involvement in nursery life
· To contribute to the effective recording and resolution of any complaints or investigations, ensuring confidentiality at all times
· To work flexibly as part of the larger team, assisting and supporting colleagues wherever required, to ensure the smooth running of the company
· To respect and value all colleagues, children and parents, encouraging a positive and diverse working environment
· To be aware of Pumpkin Patch’s policies and procedures and ensure these are adhered to
· To be professional and a good role model to the children and other staff members, at all times
· To undertake any other aspects of nursery work according to need
Essentials
· Helpful, caring and reliable
· Level 3 in Childcare
· A minimum of 5 years’ generalist experience in a nursery setting
· Experience as a senior (or equivalent) member of staff, in a nursery setting
· A passion and understanding of the Reggio Emilia inspired approach and Scandinavian approach to outdoor learning
· Outstanding education knowledge and an ability to deliver a specially tailored curriculum to meet the needs of young children.
Desirables
· Experience in supporting and mentoring educators and apprentices
