Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Prep Chef/Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. This role involves supporting the kitchen operations through food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with various kitchen tasks. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen interest in developing their culinary skills within a professional environment.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients for service
- Support cooking activities under the supervision of senior chefs
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Ensure all work areas are hygienic and comply with health and safety standards
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Assist with waste disposal and recycling procedures
- Support the team during busy service periods by providing general assistance as required
Skills
- Experience in food preparation and basic cooking techniques
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various tasks within the kitchen setting
