Guildhall School of Music & Drama is seeking two Recording & Audio Visual Engineers to join our Digital, Production & Venue Support department. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of one of the world’s leading conservatoires, supporting exceptional students, staff and visiting artists across music, drama, production arts, recording, broadcast, livestreaming and digital content.
The work is varied, creative and technically ambitious. One week might include Atmos-native session orchestra recording, big band amplification, vision mixing a classical performance, supporting filmed drama work, editing student outputs, mastering portfolio material, or helping deliver live and digital projects across Guildhall’s venues, studios and teaching spaces.
We are keen to hear from people with a wide range of technical backgrounds, including sound engineers, studio engineers, mastering engineers, vision mixers, camera operators, broadcast technicians, AV specialists and all-rounders with experience across several areas. We value specialist expertise, but we also welcome people who want to broaden their technical practice and develop across sound, video, recording, broadcast and live performance environments.
Guildhall has a professional and constantly evolving technical environment, including SSL and Neve-equipped studios, Dolby Atmos capability, a fully equipped TV studio, a large camera and grip inventory, and an extensive collection of high-quality microphones, speakers and production equipment.
We are looking for people with strong technical judgement, curiosity, generosity, calmness under pressure and a genuine interest in supporting outstanding creative work. You may come from a studio, venue, broadcast, theatre, live sound, post-production, camera, AV or freelance background. What matters is that you bring craft, enthusiasm and a commitment to high standards.
We are particularly keen to hear from women, people from the global majority, disabled people, LGBTQ+ candidates and others who are currently underrepresented in technical production, recording, broadcast and AV roles. DPVS has been doing significant internal work around representation, access and progression, and we are committed to building a more inclusive technical workforce.
This is a vibrant, practical and rewarding place to work: a department where high-quality technical delivery, creative problem-solving and world-class performing arts training meet every day.
The role will include some evening and weekend work, with overtime available.
The City of London Corporation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Closing date: 9 July 2026 at 12 Noon
Please note that we are unable to accept late applications. All applications must include a completed application form.
Interviews will take place on 16th & 17th of July 2026
