A fantastic Primary SEN School in Redbridge is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated learning needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEN professional who is passionate about helping children with autism achieve their full potential within a nurturing, structured, and highly supportive environment.
The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, Speech and Language Difficulties, Sensory Processing Needs, Social Communication Difficulties, and Moderate Learning Difficulties.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the primary age range
- Delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions
- Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional development
- Implementing individual education plans and behaviour support strategies
- Using visual supports, communication aids, and structured routines
- Encouraging independence and confidence throughout the school day
- Assisting with sensory regulation and engagement activities
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
- Building positive relationships with pupils and their families
- Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD)
- Experience within a SEN School, Mainstream School, Nursery, Care Setting, or similar environment
- Understanding of autism-friendly approaches and strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient, and nurturing personality
- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of each child
- Passion for supporting children with special educational needs
