About the Opportunity
We are looking for experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Drivers to join our growing Telecoms Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering the UK's telecommunications network by safely installing, replacing and removing telegraph poles across the Openreach network. Working within a team of two or three, you will operate specialist HIAB-equipped vehicles and plant to complete pole installation projects safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles fitted with HIAB cranes.
- Install, replace and remove telegraph poles across the Openreach network.
- Prepare, dress and position new telegraph poles to specification.
- Carry out lifting operations using HIAB cranes in accordance with safe systems of work.
- Assist with excavation, reinstatement and associated civils activities where required.
- Complete daily vehicle, HIAB and equipment inspections and report any defects.
- Operate specialist plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Work at height using approved access equipment, including MEWPs where required.
- Complete job reports, digital records and site documentation using handheld devices.
- Maintain excellent Health & Safety standards and comply with company policies, client requirements and industry regulations.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients and members of the public.
- Ensure company vehicles, tools and equipment remain clean, safe and serviceable.
- Travel to various work locations as required.
What We're Looking For
- Full UK Category C (Class 2 / LGV) Driving Licence.
- Proven experience operating HIAB cranes.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC).
- Experience working within telecoms, utilities, civils or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual duties.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable
- NRSWA Street Works Operative qualification.
- IPAF 1b certification.
- Experience working on the Openreach or utility network.
- MEWP experience.
- CPCS or equivalent plant operation experience.
