Your Mortgage Room is a growing, female-led independent mortgage brokerage based in Brighton & Hove. We are looking for an ambitious, driven and personable individual to join our team as a Trainee Mortgage Broker.
This is a genuine career development opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career within financial services and ultimately become a qualified mortgage adviser.
You will initially spend approximately two years working within mortgage administration, learning the business, our clients, lenders and the mortgage process from the ground up. Subject to consistently meeting the required KPIs and demonstrating the right attitude and aptitude, we will then support you through your CeMAP qualification with the aim of progressing you into a mortgage adviser role.
The role
During your initial training period, you will gain experience across the mortgage journey, including:
· Supporting mortgage advisers with client applications
· Preparing and checking client documentation
· Liaising with lenders, solicitors and estate agents
· Managing client files and keeping cases progressing
· Communicating with clients by telephone, email and in person
· Learning about mortgages, protection and the wider financial services industry
· Supporting the team with sales and business development
· Developing an understanding of affordability, lending criteria and mortgage products
· Working towards agreed individual and team KPIs
As your knowledge and confidence develops, you will be given increasing responsibility and exposure to the advice process.
Your progression
We are looking for someone who wants more than an administration job.
The planned career path is:
Year 1–2: Mortgage Administrator / Trainee
↓
Subject to KPI performance: CeMAP training and qualification
↓
Mortgage Adviser training and development
↓
Qualified Mortgage & Protection Adviser
We will invest in the right person, but progression will be earned through performance, attitude, commitment and consistently meeting agreed KPIs.
What we are looking for
You will ideally have:
· At least 2 years’ experience within banking, financial services or estate agency
· A full UK driving licence
· A genuine interest in mortgages and financial services
· A strong desire to work within a sales-focused environment
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· A confident and professional telephone manner
· Strong organisation and attention to detail
· The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
· A positive, resilient and proactive attitude
· The motivation to work towards targets and KPIs
· The ambition to progress into a client-facing mortgage adviser role
Previous mortgage experience is not essential. We are more interested in your attitude, commercial awareness, work ethic and ambition.
