Contracts Manager – Renewable Energy & Retrofit

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a growing renewable energy and retrofit business.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for overseeing contracts from tender stage through to mobilisation, delivery and completion. You will work closely with Directors, Commercial, Operations and Technical teams to ensure projects are secured, planned and delivered successfully, while maintaining strong client relationships and commercial performance.
The role will have a strong focus on tendering, contract management, project delivery and client relationships, with responsibility for identifying opportunities, supporting bids and ensuring the successful delivery of renewable energy and retrofit programmes.
You will operate across Solar PV, Battery Storage, Air Source Heat Pumps, Insulation, Ventilation and wider domestic retrofit, working with internal teams, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager looking to take ownership of a growing portfolio of renewable energy and retrofit contracts and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contracts from tender and bid stage through to mobilisation, delivery and completion.
- Identify and support new contract opportunities across renewable energy, retrofit and energy efficiency.
- Review tender opportunities, specifications, scopes of work and contract requirements.
- Coordinate and contribute to tender submissions, pricing exercises, methodologies and technical responses.
- Work with Directors and Commercial teams to develop competitive and commercially viable bids.
- Manage client relationships throughout the contract lifecycle, acting as a key point of contact.
- Lead contract mobilisation, ensuring resources, programmes, subcontractors and compliance requirements are in place.
- Oversee the delivery of multiple renewable energy and retrofit contracts, ensuring projects remain on programme and within budget.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, installers, suppliers and internal project teams.
- Monitor contract performance, KPIs, quality, programme and commercial performance.
- Review variations, additional works, delays and contractual issues, supporting the commercial team where required.
- Work closely with Technical teams to resolve design, installation and compliance issues.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, specifications, PAS 2030, PAS 2035, MCS, TrustMark, Building Regulations and manufacturer requirements where applicable.
- Monitor quality and ensure Right First Time delivery across projects.
- Investigate and resolve defects, complaints, non-conformances and delivery issues.
- Attend client meetings, progress meetings and site meetings as required.
- Produce and review contract reports, project updates and performance information for senior management.
- Support accreditation, client and compliance audits.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and supply chain partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, margins, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Support the introduction of new technologies, products and installation methods.
Contracts & Tendering
A key part of the role will be supporting the company's continued growth through new contract wins and tender opportunities.
You will be expected to:
- Monitor and assess new tender opportunities.
- Review ITTs, scopes, specifications and contract documentation.
- Coordinate tender responses across technical, operational and commercial teams.
- Prepare project methodologies, delivery plans and technical responses.
- Support pricing, cost analysis and commercial submissions.
- Identify risks, exclusions and commercial considerations before submission.
- Ensure tenders are submitted accurately and within deadlines.
- Support presentations, clarification meetings and client negotiations.
- Assist with the transition from successful tender through to contract mobilisation.
Experience with public sector, social housing, local authority, housing association or funded retrofit tenders would be particularly advantageous.

What We're Looking ForEssential
- Proven experience in a Contracts Manager, Senior Contracts Manager, Project Manager or similar contract delivery role within renewable energy, construction, retrofit or the wider energy sector.
- Experience managing contracts from tender/bid stage through to delivery and completion.
- Strong understanding of project and contract management.
- Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers and delivery teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract performance.
- Experience contributing to or managing tender submissions and bids.
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and competing priorities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience within domestic retrofit or renewable energy.
- Knowledge of PAS 2030 and PAS 2035.
- Experience working to MCS and TrustMark standards.
- Experience delivering Social Housing, ECO4, GBIS or other funded retrofit programmes.
- Experience with public sector or local authority procurement/tenders.
- Commercial or contract management qualification.
- Construction, engineering, electrical or renewable energy qualification.
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT or other construction/works contracts.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
