The workshop is equipped with (x2) 2 post ramps, (x1) 4 post ramp, and a recessed inspection lane (ATL - shaker plates etc) and not currently connected (CLASS 4 & 7)
Due to our unique location, we look after a huge variety of different customers & vehicles ranging from your every day Polo, to 1off supercars, with the occasional fire truck and ambulance thrown in!
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic/MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and environmental standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for vehicle mechanics and a commitment to quality service. The position involves conducting MOT tests in accordance with legal requirements and performing general mechanical repairs and servicing. A strong understanding of vehicle systems, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the ability to handle heavy lifting are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicles in compliance with legal standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using specialised tools and equipment.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and servicing on vehicles, including engine, brake systems, suspension, and electrical components.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs and inspections.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and services performed.
- Assist in identifying additional work required during vehicle assessments and communicate effectively with Service Advisors and sometimes customers regarding findings.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, including safe handling of heavy components through proper lifting techniques.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic or MOT tester is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as spanners, screwdrivers, pliers, etc., as well as power tools like drills and impact wrenches.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle maintenance or MOT testing are advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid UK driving licence is preferred for mobility around the workshop or customer sites. This role offers an engaging environment for automotive professionals eager to develop their skills further while delivering top-quality service to our customers.
Hours of work are Monday-Friday 08:30-17:30 (42.5 hours pw)
Pay: From £40,000.00 per year
