Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Department Manager to lead our cross-channel operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of the department, ensuring efficient logistics, compliance, and continuous process improvement. Your leadership will drive operational excellence while managing a team of logistics professionals to meet company goals and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily transport operation of our cross-channel service.
- Oversee bookings and schedules ensuring optimal routes.
- Maintain compliance with driver hour regulations.
- Key contact escalation from drivers, customers and operational colleagues.
- Demonstrate senior level responsibilities and team leadership skills.
- Make effective decisions in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment,
- Drive continuous improvement across transport processes and procedures.
- Support, coach and motivate colleagues through effective leadership.
- Oversight of customs processes between GB and Ireland.
- Account management for logistics contracts held by the company.
- Monitoring, managing and achieving department budgets.
- Ensuring all invoicing has been completed in a timely manner.
- Ensuring paperwork is completed in accordance with company policy.
- Identifying and acting upon potential business opportunities.
Essential Skills
- Enthusiastic and highly organised preferably with a proven track record in transport.
- Sound planning and people management skills.
- A good understanding of drivers hours and working time directive.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- A clear ability to work under pressure.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Previous management experience.
- 3 years relevant experience in a logistics sector.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills and proven experience.
- Prior knowledge of customs procedures between GB and NI/ROI.
