Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs within our inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, pupils, and external professionals to facilitate personalised learning experiences. This role offers an enriching opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with SEMH including those with autism and other special educational needs. The position is paid and suitable for individuals passionate about supporting children's development and education.
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for pupils with special needs, including autism and disabilities.
- Support children with their daily activities, fostering independence and confidence.
- Work directly with children, Key stage 3 and 4, providing behavioural support and personalised care.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teaching staff and specialists.
- Promote effective communication strategies to facilitate understanding and expression among pupils with diverse needs.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment conducive to learning and development.
- Support social integration by encouraging positive interactions among pupils.
- Monitor and record behavioural progress and learning achievements for reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in educational or care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is advantageous.
- Experience in special education or Alternate Education Provision will be considered a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment dedicated to inclusive education.
- Relevant qualifications in , special education needs (SEN), or related fields are preferred , Teaching assistant Qualifications or Higher Level Teaching Assistant or working towards .
