Role Description The Arborist will work on-site in Worcester in a full-time capacity, performing daily tree inspections, assessments, and maintenance around utility corridors. Responsibilities include identifying tree species, evaluating tree health and structure, recommending appropriate pruning or removal, and carrying out safe climbing, cutting, and rigging practices. The Arborist will operate chainsaws, chippers, and other equipment in accordance with company and regulatory safety standards. The role also involves coordinating with crew members, following work plans, maintaining accurate records of completed work, and communicating clearly with supervisors and, when needed, utility representatives. The Arborist is expected to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to all safety procedures and environmental guidelines.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of forestry principles and practical experience working in forest or utility vegetation settings.
- Strong skills in tree identification and understanding of tree biology and structure.
- Certified Arborist credential or equivalent arboriculture qualification, or a clear path and commitment to obtaining certification.
- Working knowledge of arboriculture practices, including proper pruning, removal techniques, and tree risk assessment.
- Ability to work safely with trees in proximity to utility lines, including familiarity with relevant safety regulations.
- Experience using arborist tools and equipment (e.g., chainsaws, chippers, climbing gear) with a strong safety focus.
- Good physical fitness and capability to perform manual outdoor work, including climbing and lifting as required.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a crew environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel to worksites in and around Worcester.
- Prior experience in utility arboriculture or commercial tree work is preferred but not required.
Certifications:
- PTS (Basic)
- UA1 (higher UA units an advantageous)
- Woodchipper qualification
- Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (+F)
- Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting (NPTC 201/202 or equivalent)
- Small Tree Felling (up to 380 mm)
- Full UK driving licence
- CSCS card (desirable if they also work on non-rail sites)
- UA2.1/2.2 or higher
- Climbing & Aerial Rescue
- Aerial Cutting with a Chainsaw
- MEWP
- Brushcutter
If candidate can demonstrate a clear path and commitment to obtaining certifications, training can be provided and funded if necessary.
Pay: £25,420.00-£42,221.35 per year
