Assistant ManagerJob Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our busy hospitality venue. This is a hands-on role that requires excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills to ensure exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and a positive working environment for the team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Venue Manager to oversee daily operations, manage staff, coordinate events, maintain stock levels, and build strong relationships with external suppliers and partners.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the venue.
- Ensure high standards of customer service, cleanliness, and presentation are maintained at all times.
- Act as Duty Manager when required, making operational decisions and resolving issues promptly.
- Open and close the venue in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist in maintaining health and safety, food hygiene, and licensing compliance.
Customer Service & Administration
- Answer telephone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Manage customer bookings, reservations, and event enquiries.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve complaints in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate booking systems and daily operational records.
Events & Venue Hire
- Coordinate private bookings and events from enquiry through to delivery.
- Liaise with clients, entertainers, suppliers, and external companies to ensure successful event execution.
- Prepare venue layouts and oversee event set-up and breakdown.
- Ensure all event requirements are delivered to a high standard.
Team Leadership
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to staff.
- Lead by example, motivating the team to deliver excellent service.
- Assist with staff scheduling and daily task allocation.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure company standards are consistently met.
Stock & Supplier Management
- Order food, beverages, and operational supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and minimise waste through effective stock control.
- Carry out regular stock takes and investigate discrepancies.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any supply issues.
External Relationships
- Build and maintain positive relationships with external contractors, suppliers, delivery companies, and service providers.
- Coordinate maintenance requests and ensure the venue remains operational and well maintained.
Skills & Experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality, food hall, restaurant, bar, or events.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Confident managing bookings, events, and operational administration.
- Experience training and motivating teams.
- Good understanding of stock control and ordering procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
