Due to continued success and growth, we require a Sales Estimator to provide cost estimates for repairs on loading bay and industrial access equipment covering Loading Systems North Region.
The purpose of the role is to prepare accurate and commercially viable estimates for repairs and services relating to loading bay and industrial access equipment. The role supports business growth through effective customer engagement, technical assessment, quotation preparation, and collaboration with operational teams to deliver profitable and customer-focused solutions.
Main Duties:
- Service Management System Administration: Maintain and update the company’s service management system (Plasma), ensuring data accuracy and that internal and external customer expectations are consistently met.
- Pricing & Quotations: Prepare and issue accurate repair and service quotations to customers in a timely and professional manner, ensuring commercial viability and competitiveness.
- Site Surveys: Carry out site surveys as required to gather technical and commercial information necessary to accurately scope and price repair works.
- Order Documentation Checks: Complete technical and commercial checks of all order documentation to ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Engineer & Office Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and office-based colleagues to ensure quotations accurately reflect the scope of works, technical requirements, labour, materials, and agreed customer rates.
- Cost Control & Commercial Awareness: Produce accurate cost calculations, balancing profitability with customer requirements and service delivery standards.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, responding professionally to enquiries and providing technical and commercial guidance where required.
- Sales & Business Development Support: Identify opportunities for additional repair work, upgrades, and replacement solutions, supporting regional sales growth objectives.
- Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate records of quotations, orders, and customer communications, ensuring information is recorded and managed effectively.
Person specification:
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when preparing quotations, reviewing documentation, and managing data.
- Technical Knowledge: Technically capable with the ability to understand engineering drawings, specifications, and repair requirements; Loading Systems experience is desirable.
- Commercial Awareness: Strong understanding of pricing, cost control, profitability, and commercial decision-making.
- Relevant Experience or Qualifications: Holds a formal technical qualification or relevant practical industry experience.
- Estimating Experience: Previous experience in estimating, pricing, or cost calculation of engineering products or services.
- Organisation & IT Skills: Highly organised with strong IT skills and confidence using Microsoft applications and internal management systems.
- Communication & Customer Service: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with customers, engineers, suppliers, and office teams.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Able to assess technical information and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Self-Motivation & Initiative: Demonstrates a proactive approach, works independently, and manages workload effectively to meet deadlines.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Works collaboratively with colleagues across departments to achieve business objectives and deliver excellent customer service.
