Job Overview
We are seeking a MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our team at our fabrication workshop near Melton Mowbray. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating our handcrafted products and components according to drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing metal components with precision and attention to detail. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in welding and metalwork to contribute to high-quality projects in a dynamic environment. Candidates must have relevant experience in MIG welding, sheet metal work, and the use of various hand and power tools.
Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings to determine specifications and requirements for fabrication projects.
- Perform MIG welding and other welding techniques to assemble metal products.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to cut, shape, and finish metal materials.
- Fabricate components from sheet metal according to project specifications.
- Conduct assembly of fabricated parts while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and resolve any fabrication issues that may arise.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately
- Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes
- Experience with assembly of metal components is desirable
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment following health and safety guidelines
Skills
A successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years welding & fabrication experience.
- Ability to read from engineering drawings.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
- Ability to MIG weld steel in thickness' from 2mm-15mm.
- Ability to fabricate bespoke steelwork from scratch , independently to a high level of quality.
- Ability to work as part of a team & independently.
- Experience using equipment such as ; guillotine / angle grinders / saws / rollers / press brake / punch / drills- Proficiency in metal fabrication techniques.
- Experience forklift driver
- Painting experience
