About the role
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands on role responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of mechanical maintenance, installations, repairs and project work within a marine engineering environment.
The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and workmanship.
Key responsibilities
- Complete maintenance activities, repairs, installations and project work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Carry out hands-on mechanical maintenance, fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Conduct routine inspections and planned preventative maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations and company procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance.
- Accurately record work completed, parts used and time spent on tasks.
- Work closely with colleagues across Electrical, Operations, Safety and Quality teams to support project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, helping to develop skills and knowledge across the team.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Boat Building or a related discipline.
- Significant recent experience within the marine industry.
- Good understanding of boat building techniques, methods and processes.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, engineering tools and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Desirable
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
