Responsibilities of the post:
The Learning Support Mentor’s (LSM) main role is to provide 1:1 and group support and mentoring for learners at the Centre. Duties will also include supporting the learning sessions and delivering specific programmes and activities to assist the learners’ individual learning needs. The LSM will be responsible for implementing the targets on the learner’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) in liaison with teaching staff and the SENDCo.
Responsibilities: As an LSM
● Develop a professional relationship with learners to ensure they are supported during their time with Red Balloon;
● Ensure learners are appropriately supervised at all times;
● Record progress through Red Balloon processes, systems and other agreed on assessment and tracking tools in order to effectively monitor progress;
● Participate in outings and trips with the Red Balloon community;
● Communicate and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure learners receive high-quality support and input to facilitate individual progression;
● Consult with each learner in order to identify their likes/dislikes, abilities and personal preferences to assist with their learning.
● Hold mentor meetings with learners and record outcomes and progress
● Participate in a range of activities with our young people
● Regularly assess the effectiveness of the wellbeing activities and adapt/change where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience
· Experience in supporting young people and their families
Essential
· Professional qualifications, training or experience in supporting young people regarding their wellbeing or education
Desirable
· Experience of supporting young people with additional needs, for example, Autism, ADHD or SEMH
Desirable
· Exceptional IT and Administration skills (Microsoft Office)

· Strong academic record to include a minimum GSCE Grade C or equivalent in Maths, English, Science and/or IT .
