Make a Real Difference Outside the Classroom
We are currently recruiting Outreach Tutors to support children and young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide personalised education and support to pupils in community settings, helping them rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.
We are looking for both Qualified Teachers and experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) with a passion for working with vulnerable learners.
Please note: This is not a remote or online tutoring role. All tuition is delivered face-to-face within the local community across Kingston.
About the Role
You will work on a 1:1 or small-group basis with pupils who may have:
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH needs
- Anxiety or school refusal
- EHCPs
- Medical needs
- Other barriers preventing them from attending mainstream school
Sessions take place in community venues such as libraries, community centres, or other suitable locations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, personalised learning sessions.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and their families.
- Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
- Support pupils to improve confidence, engagement and academic progress.
- Provide feedback and progress updates where required.
- Maintain a safe, professional and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or experience working as an LSA, Tutor or Teaching Assistant.
- Experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Ability to work independently and build strong relationships with young people.
- Full right to work in the UK.
