We are looking for a reliable, flexible and proactive Ad Hoc Nursery Support Team Member to join our team. This is a varied role, providing support across the nursery as required. Depending on the needs of the setting and the individual's skills and qualifications, the successful candidate may support with nursery cooking, housekeeping, laundry, kitchen duties and early years childcare cover.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, is happy to get stuck in and wants to be an important part of a close-knit nursery team.
The Role
As an Ad Hoc Nursery Support Team Member, you will provide flexible support across different areas of the nursery. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the nursery team and use your initiative to ensure the setting remains safe, clean, organised and welcoming for children, families and staff.
The role may include one or more of the following areas:
Nursery Kitchen & Chef Support
- Prepare healthy, nutritious and appealing meals and snacks for the children.
- Support the preparation of WRAP's plant-based menu.
- Ensure children's individual dietary, allergy and cultural requirements are followed carefully and consistently.
- Prepare food in accordance with food hygiene and safety requirements.
- Ensure food is prepared and served at the appropriate times.
- Take and record food, fridge and freezer temperatures as required.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Wash crockery, cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment in accordance with food safety procedures.
- Support with kitchen stock control, food storage and rotation.
- Assist with food ordering and receiving deliveries where required.
- Ensure food waste and general waste are disposed of appropriately.
- Maintain required kitchen records and procedures.
- Encourage children to develop a positive relationship with food where appropriate, including supporting age-appropriate food preparation activities.
- Report any concerns relating to food, allergies, equipment or kitchen safety to the Nursery Manager.
Housekeeping & Nursery Support
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the nursery.
- Assist with cleaning floors, tables, furniture and other areas following mealtimes and activities.
- Support with washing up and keeping kitchen and dining areas organised.
- Sort, fold and distribute nursery laundry to the appropriate areas.
- Restock cleaning and household supplies as required.
- Ensure nursery spaces, equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well presented.
- Assist with the general organisation and preparation of rooms throughout the day.
- Report maintenance, cleaning or health and safety concerns promptly.
- Support the nursery team with general tasks that contribute to the smooth running of the setting.
- Follow all COSHH, health and safety, hygiene and infection-control procedures.
Early Years Cover & Nursery Support
Where appropriately qualified and suitable for the role, you may also provide early years cover and support within the nursery.
This may include:
- Helping to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children.
- Supporting qualified Early Years Educators with the care and supervision of children.
- Supporting children's learning and development through play and age-appropriate activities.
- Preparing and supervising activities.
- Building warm, positive and responsive relationships with children.
- Supporting children's individual needs and routines.
- Helping children with mealtimes, sleep routines, toileting and personal care as appropriate.
- Supporting the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Working alongside colleagues to provide continuity of care and a positive experience for children.
- Supporting positive relationships with parents and carers.
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Following safeguarding and child protection procedures and reporting concerns appropriately.
- Supporting the general cleanliness, organisation and safety of the nursery environment.
WRAP Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff, regardless of their role, are expected to contribute to creating a safe, secure and nurturing environment. As this role may involve contact with children, the successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check, provide satisfactory references and undertake appropriate safeguarding training. Qualifications & Experience
Depending on the duties undertaken, the following would be desirable:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification or willingness to undertake training
- Previous experience working with children in an early years setting
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Paediatric First Aid
- Food Hygiene qualification – desirable
- Previous professional cooking or catering experience – desirable
- Previous housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience – desirable
Pay: £28,849.60-£32,000.00 per year
