Clinical Psychologist for Sexual Function Service – 8b .5 wte – Fixed term for 2 years.
This post will be a key part of the long-established Jane Wadsworth multi-disciplinary sexual function service based at St Mary’s Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The postholder will be currently working in a senior position in a sexual function service with supervisory duties and have at least three years’ experience of working with a range of sexual problems across genders and with diverse societal, cultural and religious approaches to sexuality and sexual preferences. Experience and skill in treating sexual trauma are highly desirable.
The postholder will work with an experienced, welcoming and positive MDT with medical and allied health professional input. The post is based within the wider CNWL Clinical Health Psychology department which works across all the Imperial College Healthcare hospital sites and provides peer support with many CPD options. Support for the post will be provided by Consultant Clinical Psychologists experienced in the area of sexual function.
- To develop, co-ordinate and ensure the systematic provision of a psychology service to patients with sexual function difficulties and personally provide highly specialist clinical input.
- To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist in the area of sexual function
- To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of other psychologists working with patients affected by sexual function difficulties.
- To undertake service evaluation, audit, research and policy development.
- To work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
