School Lifeguard – Specialist SEN School

A specialist school in Canford Heath, Poole is seeking a qualified Lifeguard to supervise their on-site pool and support safe access to swimming sessions for pupils.
The provision supports children and young people with complex additional needs, and swimming plays an important role in both physical development and therapeutic support. Pupils require a calm, structured and safe environment, with clear supervision and consistent routines.
Despite the role being in a SEND setting, SEND experience isn't required - all pupils will have their own support staff to care for them, the role of the Lifeguard is purely pool safety.
Role Details
- Start date: Immediately from 3rd September 2026
- Days: Tuesday–Friday
- Hours:
- Tuesday: 12:30pm – 3:00pm
- Wednesday–Friday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
- Pay: £78.34 per full day (pro-rated for Tuesday)
- Contract: Ongoing / term-time position
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the pool during school swimming sessions
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils and staff in and around the pool
- Carry out pre-session safety checks and maintain poolside standards
- Respond effectively to any incidents or emergencies
- Work collaboratively with school staff supporting pupils in the water
- Maintain accurate records where required
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a valid, in-date NPLQ (essential)
- Has experience working in a pool or aquatic setting
- Confident supporting children or young people
- Calm, vigilant and highly responsible
- Able to follow safeguarding and safety procedures rigorously
