Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Tube Laser Cutting Supervisor to lead daily operations across production, job scheduling, team management, and customer-facing sales coordination. This role combines hands-on manufacturing leadership with operational planning and commercial support to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to customer specifications.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of laser cutting processes, experience supervising teams, and the ability to coordinate quotations, customer requirements, and production priorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Job Management
- Supervise daily tube laser cutting operations to meet production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritise jobs based on customer deadlines and machine capacity.
- Review drawings, specifications, and work orders before release to production.
- Monitor machine utilisation, production output, and workflow efficiency.
- Coordinate material availability and job readiness with purchasing and inventory teams.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and support operators and production staff across shifts.
- Allocate work and manage staffing levels to maximise productivity.
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee development.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Enforce health, safety, and operational procedures.
Sales & Customer Coordination
- Support sales activities by reviewing customer requirements and advising on manufacturing capability.
- Prepare or assist with quotations, pricing, lead times, and production estimates.
- Communicate with customers regarding order progress, technical questions, and delivery expectations.
- Work closely with sales to convert enquiries into production orders.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and improved customer service.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure finished products meet customer and company quality standards.
- Maintain production records, KPIs, and reporting.
- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve profitability.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing practices.
Requirements
- Experience supervising laser cutting, fabrication, sheet metal, or metal processing environment.
- Strong understanding of laser machines, CNC production processes, and fabrication workflows.
- Experience managing teams and production scheduling.
- Commercial awareness with experience supporting quotes, estimating, or customer relationships.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with production software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in fabrication, manufacturing, engineering, or production management.
- Experience with estimating, sales support, or account management.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Forklift or relevant manufacturing certifications (if applicable).
