Office & Accounts Administrator
Location: Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, HG5 8PJ
Salary: £28,500–£31,000, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, full-time, office-based
Please note: This is a fully office-based position in Knaresborough. We are ideally looking for candidates based in Knaresborough, Harrogate or the immediate surrounding area, with a practical and reliable daily commute to our HG5 office.

We are a friendly, close-knit and ambitious team looking for an organised and proactive Office & Accounts Administrator.
This is primarily a general office administration position with additional day-to-day accounts support. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who is comfortable working with figures and would like to develop broader accounts experience as part of a varied role.
The role
You will play an important part in the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of our office, providing administrative support to colleagues and management across the business.
Alongside your general administration responsibilities, you will also provide practical support to our Accounts Manager with routine financial administration such as supplier invoices, transaction posting and maintaining accurate records.
You do not need to be a qualified or experienced accounts professional. We are primarily looking for a strong, dependable administrator who is organised, numerate and willing to learn our accounts processes.
You will work closely with colleagues across the business, including our Accounts Manager and senior management team. No two days are the same, so the position will suit someone who is adaptable, approachable and comfortable managing competing priorities.
Office administration responsibilities
- Helping to coordinate the day-to-day running of the office
- Providing administrative support to colleagues and management
- Preparing correspondence, documents, spreadsheets and reports
- Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries appropriately
- Monitoring email inboxes and responding to routine enquiries
- Maintaining organised filing systems and accurate company records
- Ordering and managing office supplies and staff uniforms
- Coordinating meetings, appointments and travel arrangements
- Supporting the organisation of company events and team activities
- Undertaking other reasonable administrative duties as the business develops
Accounts administration responsibilities
- Providing general administrative support to the Accounts Manager
- Processing and recording supplier invoices
- Helping to obtain internal invoice approvals
- Posting routine bank transactions to the accounting system
- Helping to ensure invoices and receipts are obtained and recorded correctly
- Assisting with supplier statement reconciliations
- Supporting supplier payment administration
- Assisting with routine credit control and customer statements when required
- Helping to maintain accurate electronic financial records
Full training will be provided in our accounting systems and internal procedures.
About you
Essential:
- At least one year’s experience in an office administration position
- Strong organisational skills and close attention to detail
- Confidence communicating professionally by telephone, email and in person
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a small team
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Comfortable working with figures and maintaining accurate records
- Positive, proactive and dependable approach
Preferred:
- Previous accounts or finance administration experience
- Experience processing supplier invoices
- Experience posting bank transactions or completing reconciliations
- Credit control or customer account experience
- Experience using QuickBooks or another accounting system
A full UK driving licence would be useful but is not essential.
Training will be provided in our systems and company procedures. Candidates do not need extensive accounts experience, but should already have strong general office administration skills, confidence using Microsoft Office and a good level of numerical accuracy.
