Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the team at thisSchool, supporting students within the Middle School department.
Our school is a specialist school supporting children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The school provides a highly individualised, nurturing and supportive learning environment where communication, independence and personal development are at the heart of the curriculum.
The Role
As an LSA, you will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support to students with a range of complex additional needs, including ASD, PMLD and SLD.
You will play an important role in helping students to:
- Engage with their personalised learning and curriculum
- Develop communication and social skills
- Build confidence, independence and self-esteem
- Access sensory, physical and practical learning activities
- Develop functional and life skills
- Participate in activities both within school and the wider community
- Feel safe, valued, supported and able to achieve their individual goals
The Middle School curriculum at the school includes creative, practical and outdoor learning opportunities, with a strong focus on transferring skills into real-life situations.

- Willing to learn and develop specialist SEND knowledge
- Reliable, adaptable and committed to providing high-quality support
Previous experience working with children or young people with ASD, PMLD, SLD or complex SEND would be highly desirable, although a positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine commitment to the role are equally important.
The school also provides staff with specialist training and professional development in areas including autism, PMLD, sensory processing, communication approaches and positive behaviour support.
