UK-based experience working with children is essential
Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping every pupil feel confident, included and understood in the classroom?
Long-term Teachers work with the majority of Primary Schools across Stroud, Dursley and Cirencester, giving our candidates access to a wide range of long-term and permanent SEND opportunities. We are currently recruiting dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to join welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across the area from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of nurturing school environments where staff work collaboratively to ensure every child is supported to reach their full potential.
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties. You may work on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, helping pupils access learning, develop confidence and engage positively with school life.
The Role
You may be responsible for:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small intervention groups
- Breaking learning down into manageable steps to meet individual needs
- Using visual aids and alternative communication strategies where appropriate
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour throughout the school day
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interactions
- Working closely with class teachers and SENDCOs to deliver tailored support plans
If you are caring, adaptable and passionate about making a difference, this is a fantastic opportunity to build valuable long-term experience within supportive Primary Schools.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has UK-based experience working with children
- Has experience supporting children with SEND (desirable)
- Is patient, compassionate and resilient
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Can create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
- Is flexible, proactive and committed to helping every child succeed
Your empathy, patience and positive attitude will be your greatest strengths in this role. We are looking for someone who can build trusting relationships and provide consistent support to children who require additional guidance throughout the school day.
If you're ready to make a real difference in children's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
