Duties
- Perform detailed asbestos surveys in accordance with current regulations and industry standards, including management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys.
- Collect samples from suspect materials using appropriate safety procedures and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
- Analyze survey data to assess the condition and risk level of asbestos-containing materials, providing clear reports for clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain meticulous records of survey activities, sample locations, and analytical results to support compliance audits.
- Communicate survey findings effectively to clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, offering guidance on necessary remediation actions.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to monitor asbestos management plans and ensure ongoing safety compliance.
- Stay updated with evolving regulations and best practices related to asbestos management to continually enhance survey accuracy.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an asbestos surveyor or in a related environmental health and safety role, with a strong understanding of asbestos legislation.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret survey data accurately and identify potential hazards swiftly.
- Relevant qualifications such as P402 (Asbestos Awareness) or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow complex procedures meticulously.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings clearly and liaising with clients and authorities.
