Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents within our residential care home. The successful candidate will organise and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of our residents, many of whom may require specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the wellbeing and social engagement of older adults in a compassionate and supportive environment.
Duties
- Plan, develop, and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability, including those requiring dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, gentle exercise, and social events to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
- Personalise activity plans to accommodate individual preferences, histories, and care requirements.
- Collaborate closely with care staff to ensure activities complement residents’ care plans and health needs.
- Monitor residents’ participation and adjust activities accordingly to maximise engagement and enjoyment.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation levels, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a warm, inclusive environment that encourages residents’ independence and dignity through meaningful engagement.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments, particularly with senior care or dementia care.
- Strong understanding of care home operations with specific knowledge in Alzheimer’s or dementia-related conditions.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in enhancing the wellbeing of older adults through creative activity planning.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt activities for residents with diverse needs, including those requiring specialised dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
- Team player who works collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic resident support. Pay: £12.82 per hour
