Job title: Front of House – Cafe (with food-prep) About us We are a friendly, bustling café situated in Rotherham Council’s Riverside House. We are known for freshly prepared breakfasts, sandwiches, lunches, and specialty coffee. We pride ourselves on fast, friendly service, a clean welcoming space, and high-quality food made to order. Role overview We’re looking to hire a reliable Front of House team member who can deliver excellent customer service, handle counter and till duties, and assist with basic food preparation. Ideal for someone energetic, organised, and comfortable working in a busy cafe environment. This role is perfect for those who want to work mornings and requires no evening or weekend work! We are flexible around childcare and/or other responsibilities. Key responsibilities Greet customers warmly, take orders and operate the POS/till. Prepare and serve drinks (coffee/tea) and plated counter items. Assist with food preparation: sandwiches, salads, toasties, simple hot items, portioning, plating. Maintain cleanliness of front of house, display, and service areas. Manage takeaway orders and packaging. Handle cash, card and mobile payments accurately. Restock supplies and communicate stock needs to management. Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures. Essential skills & experience Previous front-of-house/cafe experience (minimum 1 year preferred). Strong customer-service skills and friendly, professional manner. Ability to work quickly under pressure, multi-task and keep a tidy workspace. Comfortable using POS systems, handling cash and card payments. Flexible availability, including early mornings (but working on weekends or evenings not required). Desirable Practical food preparation experience in a cafe or similar setting. Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene (Level 2 or equivalent desirable) - training can be given for this Barista experience/basics of espresso machine. First aid or food allergen awareness training (training can be given). Hours & pay Part-time and full-time hours available. Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience). Holiday pay and pension.
